Purpose of this lesson: To teach children the fruits of God's spirit.
Galatians 5:22 tells us that, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. This is the way God is, His make up, His mind set. This is the Spirit, the nature, that He wants all true Christians to possess.
Young children already possess many of these qualities. That is why Jesus said that of such is the kingdom of heaven. It is the mindset that He wants in ALL His followers. Unfortunately, somewhere along the line children begin to lose these qualities and the works of the flesh, spoken of in Galatians 5:19-21, set in.
With God's help, and our efforts to train children up in the way that they should go, young people can learn to walk in the Spirit, and the pull of the world will be lessened.
Because these lessons are intended to be springboards for your own lesson plans we don't intend to give you a step by step outline of what you're to teach and how you're to teach it.
In this lesson we will provide a tree with the fruit of God's Spirit. Children can click on the fruit and it will take them to a short lesson.
We will provide an uncolored tree for you to print off and pass around for the children to color as well as fruits for them to color and glue on the tree.
Each fruit on the Fruit's of God's Spirit page will hotlink to a relating lessons which will be added as we have opportunity - usually one each month. We would like to make it more often - but at present our time restraints just don't permit us to.
We will also post a short Sally and Sam story for children to read, or have read to them.
The activity provided will relate to the lesson in what we hope will be a fun and profitable way.
