Because a number of folks are curious as to whose behind Christian Children's Corner and other religious stories and lessons on our site, we've created this page to introduce ourselves to you, and explain why we offer religious literature for free on-line.

First let us explain that Christian Children's Corner is NOT published by any religious organization. Christian Children's Corner is brought to you by Antelope Publishing, publishers of browser readable e-books for the family.

Why do we offer free religious literature? Of course we wish people to become better acquainted with us with the hope that they will like what they see and buy a book or two, but there's more to our religious pages than just hoping to make a sale. A brief look at our bios will explain.

Joanne Rutis was born in 1947. The second of three children, Joanne grew up on a farm in western Michigan where she enjoyed reading and playing with the neighborhood children. Joanne has always had a deep desire to write, and when she was in her late teens took a writing course through the mail. In 1970 she moved to Oregon where began looking into religious truths. She met John Rutis at the church she began attending. She was impressed with his devotion to God and his love for children. They were soon after married. John and Joanne have five grown children. All five of the Rutis children have been home-schooled, giving Joanne an opportunity to develop her teaching skills. For a number of years Joanne ran a small daycare center. A zealous student of the Bible, she also organized and taught pre-school classes at her local Church. Joanne has written religious articles for both children and adults. A number of her articles have appeared in Virtual Christian Magazine. She has also been published in The Good News Magazine. Her children's religious stories have been read on the radio, as well as printed in numerous countries outside of the U.S. Together John and Joanne established Antelope Publishing, where they produce browser readable e-books for the entire family. Joanne has written a number of picture books for children designed to teach moral values. She also narrates many of the books she has written, as well as the Beatrix Potter Books available on their business site. In her spare time Joanne contributes her talents and energies to Christian Children's Corner, a free on-line religious magazine for children.

John Rutis was born in 1938 to John and Thelma Rutis. The first of four children, John grew up near Portland Oregon. Over the years the city gradually expanded around his home. As a child he enjoyed reading, model building, especially model railroading, hiking and bicycling among other things. John had always had a talent for drawing. As he grew older he began drawing portraits and doing scratch boards. He has won many awards for his art. More recently he has turned his artist talents to graphic design. He became a mechanical, electron optic and process engineer, but a change in fortunes of his engineering group lead to a new career in technical writing. In 1996 John retired from his nine to five job and, with his wife, Joanne, launched Antelope Publishing. John has been a student of the Bible since his late teens and taught fifth grade Bible classes for many years. He is on the speaking schedule at his local Church, and has written numerous biblical articles and stories, including articles and editorials for Virtual Christian Magazine. You'll find his most recent bible stories on Ongoing Tales He has also written The Life of Moses and is currently working on The Life of Jesus, which he hopes to have completed by spring.

John and Joanne are committed to teaching God's written word as His revealed truth, and try very hard not to be swayed by man's interruption of the bible. They claim no affiliation with any religious organization, though they do attend church services regularly. Because they love God and have a fondness for all children they use whatever talents and gifts God has blessed them with to publish bible stories and lessons for children, as well as a small number of articles for grown-ups.

"We try and back up everything we teach with scriptures," states Joanne, "John and I are not out to convert others to any religious organization. We just want to introduce children to the God of the bible, and give them some hope for the future. Jesus commands us, 'Freely you have received, freely give.' and that is what we are attempting to do."
