On The First Day of Creation
(Gen 1:6-8)
USING the power of His Spirit, GOD brought light back to the surface of the earth.
|
For the first time since Satan's rebellion, light filtered down from the sun above. GOD looked at the light and pronounced it good.
Then GOD divided the light from the darkness, calling the light day, and the darkness night.
The evening and the morning were the first day of GOD'S creation week.
On The Second Day of Creation
(Gen 1:6-8)
|
On the second day of creation GOD formed the atmosphere we breathe and the clean blue sky with white clouds that grace the sky above us. He called the atmosphere Heaven. This is the first heaven; the second heaven is all of the universe above the atmosphere and the third heaven is where GOD lives.
Evening and morning passed and GOD, looking at all He had done on that second day of creation, pronounced His work to be good.
On The Third Day of Creation
(Gen 1:9-13)
|
ALTHOUGH light had returned, the earth remained covered with water. On the third day of creation GOD changed the shape of the earth's surface. How the land must have shaken as mighty mountains were raised and gently rolling hills formed. As the land rose the water began flowing to lower lying valleys. |
Crystal clear lakes and rapidly flowing rivers were formed.
On the dry land GOD caused green plants to spring up, giving us the stately trees that tower overhead, the beautiful flowering plants that surround us and green grasses that grow underfoot.
GOD looked at all that He had done on the third day of creation and declared it good.
On The Fourth Day of Creation
(Gen 1:14-19)
GOD CLEANED THE ATMOSPHERE so that the earth had a clear view of the sun, moon and stars.
|
|
He set the movements of these heavenly bodies so that man would be able to measure time, noting the passing of one season and the beginning of the next.
GOD looked at the clear sky, the beautiful night-time stars and moon and pronounced His work to be good.
The evening and the morning were the fourth day of creation week.
On The Fifth Day of Creation
(Gen 1:20-23)
THE EARTH was now ready for living creatures.
On the fifth day GOD made the life that moves in the oceans, lakes and rivers. Then He filled the sky with an assortment of colorful birds.
|
"BE fruitful and multiply," GOD told His created beings. "Fill the waters and the sky."
|
When GOD saw the life moving through the waters, and the birds flying gracefully through the air, He declared it to be good.
The evening and the morning were the fifth day of creation.
On The Sixth Day of Creation
(Gen 1:24-31)
GOD had placed creatures in the waters and birds in the sky.
Now He set about creating animals to fill the land.
GOD made each creature to be a special creation that would produce after its own kind.
| Cattle would give birth to calves. |
|
Horses would give birth to colts. |
|
Cats would give birth to kittens, and so forth throughout the animal kingdom. |
GOD saw all the animals of every kind that He had created, and declared that it was very good.
Now the Earth was ready for GOD'S master creation.
GOD Creates Man After the GOD Kind
(Gen 1:26-28)
|
|
"Let them have rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the Earth." GOD said, giving humanity the awesome responsibility to tend to GOD'S creation and the very Earth itself.
So GOD created man out of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and man became a living creature.
The Two Trees
(Gen 2:8-9,15-17)
GOD had created a beautiful garden called Eden for man to live in and given him the responsibility of keeping it in good condition.
In the garden GOD planted many beautiful trees, pleasant to look at and thick with delicious produce.
But there were two trees in the center of the garden that had special importance.
|
|
One was The Tree of Life.
Taking from the fruit of that tree would be symbolic of taking of GOD'S Spirit, which He freely gives to those who obey Him. Were they to eat of the fruit of The Tree of Life, spiritual knowledge would be opened to them and, if they acted on that knowledge, eternal life would be given.
The other tree Adam was warned to stay away from.
|
|
GOD had given the first man that He created the name of Adam and brought all of the animals before him to be named. Whatever Adam called them, that became their name. As Adam inspected each creature that passed in front of him he discovered a most distressing fact. He alone possessed the spirit that gives intelligence and a sense of self awareness. He was the only one of his kind in existence!
GOD knew that Adam needed someone special to make him complete. So God caused Adam to go into a deep sleep. While he slept, God removed one of Adam's ribs then sealed up his flesh again. From the rib which God had removed from Adam, God created a female who he brought to Adam.
|
|
At once Adam saw that she was different from the rest of God's creation. "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh," Adam announced joyfully. "She will be called woman because she came out of man."
"From now on a man must leave his father and mother's home and establish his own home with his wife," God said, giving the first human couple instruction in how husband and wife relationships should work. "A husband and wife will be one."
The first husband and wife on earth were both naked and unashamed.
THIS ended the sixth day. God looked at all he had done and saw that it was very good.
On On the Seventh Day of Creation
(Gen 2:2-3)
ON THE SEVENTH DAY of creation God rested from His labor.
He blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, making it Holy time.
